When you’re tackling a big project you’ll need a lot of parts and in the case of an Opel GT that is a difficult and expensive proposition. Luckily, included with the purchase of my yellow Opel was a second, rougher, red car.
Abandoned in the woods for who knows how long this thing is a total goner but even still, it has parts that I can use. Parts that I need from it are a front bumper, front marker lights, grill assembly, rear light lenses, and seats.
And while my yellow Opel came with free storage on a concrete pad outside a shop, they won’t let me keep a
second
car there for free so I’ll likely end up gutting this one and parting it right in my driveway. Sorry neighbours!
Anyways I still have to go get this parts car. It was described to me as being down a ravine and across a creek. I’ll be borrowing a Ram Rebel with gnarly mud tires, a trailer with a winch and hoping for the best!

Those sweet sweet slotted mags look like they could be useful in future.

Yeah I like them! I’m hoping they’re 14s, I want to upgrade from the stock 13" wheels.

Yeah hard to tell on size, but even if they’re 13s they’re a great period look. Probably
Westerns, great wheels if that’s what they are.

So...you’re going to record this recovery adventure and share it on your channel for posterity, right? Because that sounds like an amusing event! :P

Of course! Yes the parts car retrieval will be super fun!

Does that busted dirt bike come with it? Looks like a great little treasure hunt!

I love these mini C orvettes... I’ve always wanted to see if I could put a Buick 215 v8 in one to make it more like a smaller Corvette. Good luck with this project, it sounds cool!

I’m sure they’d let me take it if I asked. The story is the old dude who owned the property passed away so the kids are selling off all the stuff.

Thanks! People actually have swapped the Buick 215 into them before. It’s a tight fit but possible! Spark plug changes may be a little tricky!

Cool! I always wondered why they didn’t put the 215 in it to begin with....

YAY! Looking forward to it! :D

Eextraction video request!

I mean they were sold at Buick dealers in the US so it was kind of a natural match.

Granted! Though I won’t be out that way for a while. But when it happens, you’ll see it

Cool biz.
Your life size hot wheels collection is coming along nicely btw.

Maybe it had something to do with cost or the fact that they were having little success with the 215 in bigger cars? Who knows. At least engine swaps are possible.

I almost want to tag along for this.
if for nothing else to witness the carnage that will come with it first hand

By the way, the man responsible for the exterior design of the Opel GT, Erhard Schnell, has just passed away this week:(

I read about that, actually. Hell of a name for a guy tasked with drawing sports cars!
